Artuke Finca de los Locos
The name of this wine meaning “the Mad Men Estate” came about in the 1950’s when the grandfather of Arturo and Kike de Miguel, the current owners of the Artuke winery, bought a 28-hectare, high-altitude estate in an area of la Rioja in which no one had ever thought of planting vineyards. The peasants said that doing so was utter madness. This is how The Mad Men Estate was born.
All about this wine
Current Vintage: 2016
Region/Country: Rioja / Spain
Taste: A velvety texture, bold and well-balanced. Notes of liquor-infused black fruit, lively exotic spices and subtle hints from the oak aging. Crunchy tannins, tense acidity and a delightfully elegant finish that slowly fades away, leaving distinctive wet mineral notes.
Food Match: Roast suckling lamb and potatoes, or, even better, with “cochinillo” (roast suckling pig), that Spanish gastronomical delight.
